Apr2013_NEWS FROM DAYBORO VET SURGERY

And so it continues!  Firstly a huge THANK YOU to all our wonderful clients for their understanding and expressions of encouragement over the last couple of months, and sincere apologies for the continuing inconvenience with parking and phone disruptions. As many of you would know, we are now in our lovely new clinic and working around the construction process.  YES, WE ARE OPEN.
The old clinic has been moved, and is sitting at the end of Don Kerr Lane awaiting the right conditions to move into its new home at the show grounds.  We are advised the car park is still some weeks away, so at this point, access to the clinic is still from the rear of the building and up the back stairs.  Parking is either across the road or down Don Kerr Lane.  If you are having trouble getting from your vehicle to the clinic please call us and we will assist you.  The phones are another issue.  At the time of writing we still have limited telephone facilities, with all incoming calls being redirected through one mobile.  This means that there is only one line.  If your call goes unanswered please leave a message and we will ring you back as soon as we possibly can.  We will continue to try and keep you all informed of our progress and will hold an open day as soon as the construction process is finished.  We are looking forward to showing you through your new look clinic and celebrating with you.
By the time you read this, Easter will have been and gone again for another year.  Just a quick reminder to make sure your pets aren’t able to raid your stash of choccies.  Chocolate is one of life’s great pleasures for many of us, but for our four legged (and feathered) friends it can be toxic, leading to vomiting, diarrhoea, seizures and even death.  There are lots of yummy treats available for our little friends, specifically created with them in mind, but, as always, moderation is the key.  Our friendly staff would be happy to discuss the pros and cons of treats with you and those things which should be avoided all together.
The other thing worth mentioning is the weather.  It has, as you will have noticed, been very wet.  The rain has brought with it a noticeable increase in ear infections.  Some dogs are definitely more prone than others but this moist, warm, humid weather does not help.  If you notice your dog shaking his head a lot, a nasty smell, or even discharge from the ears, please make an appointment to bring him in for us to examine.  Ear infections are not pleasant, and can become very painful if left untreated.  There can be varying causes so a consultation with the veterinarian is essential to accurately diagnose the problem and work out an effective treatment plan.
On a positive note, Kristie is very excited to have a brand new set of portable equine stocks, which means we can now safely perform a range of procedures on your property such as AI, pregnancy checks and dental procedures.
