. . . Against Bullying

Dayboro State School demonstrated their support for the inaugural National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence that took place on Friday 18th March 2011.
During the week leading up to this day the students explored strategies to help prevent bullying.  They learnt about the bullying triangle, which involves the bully, the victim and the bystander.  They also learnt the effective role active bystanders play in preventing bullying.
“Although we always have a focus, as educators, on eliminating bullying and sending the message that bullying is not okay, we felt that we should work together as a school community to support this national day of action and "take a stand" against bullying.”
The students and school community contributed to the construction of a ‘larger than life’ poster with a clear message; “Say No to Bullying”.  This poster is proudly on display in the school’s new hall as a visual reminder of their commitment to end bullying.
At a special assembly on Monday 21st March the Dayboro SS community was led by their school captains, Max K, Maddison M, Edde B and Sinead H, as they pledged their commitment to Stand Together Against Bullying.
A number of students were recognised on assembly with a “Random Acts of Kindness Award”, for playing an effective role in preventing conflict and helping to make Dayboro SS a safe and friendly place.
Bullying is a complex issue for the whole community and addressing this issue requires constant vigilance by the whole community, including schools.  Dayboro State School is committed to ensuring that their school remains a safe place for students to learn and teachers to teach.
