The best friends who became the 2010 Voice of Urban Country have urged up-and-coming musicians to enter this year’s competition.
Bre Gerritsen and Jade Mellor, who perform as country pop duo BRADE, have been singing since they first met at a music event eight years ago.

In its fifth year, the Voice of Urban Country competition, run in conjunction with Caboolture’s Urban Country Music Festival, offers a major prize package that includes $2,500 cash, recording time, marketing assistance and performance bookings.
BRADE said taking part in Voice of Urban Country was something they would “definitely” recommend to others.
“Winning Voice of Urban Country really helped us. When you’re doing this, you need other people helping you and we’ve really appreciated the support that we’ve got through Voice of Urban Country,” Bre said.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said the competition now had a solid record of helping young performers further their fledgling careers.
“We’re always hoping to discover the next big thing in country and it’s most rewarding to see our previous winners like BRADE continuing to carve a name out for themselves,” Mayor Sutherland said.
