We are a quarter of the way through 2012!! Time sure flies . . .!
Congratulations to our new State member, Seath Holswich. As the dust settles on the State Government Election we now get into full-on election mode with the Local Government elections.

At the time of writing this we know of 3 candidates for the position of our Councillor i.e. for Division 11; and 4 people running for Mayor of Moreton Bay Regional Council.
Division 11 covers a huge area and the Dayboro district is in the same electoral division as Samford. Samford’s Progress Association is organising a Meet the Candidates evening for Monday 23rd April, so Dayboro folk are encouraged to go along to hear what these hopefuls have to say . . . and to put their questions to them as well. On the subject of “Meet the Candidates” the recent such event here in Dayboro – for the State Government candidates in our electoral district of Pine Rivers – had approximately 60 attendees. Unfortunately, due to illness, Labor candidate Patrick Bulman was unable to attend but questions were noted down by his campaign manager, Michelle, and passed on to Patrick to answer via email or phone call later. There was considerable variety in the questions put to these candidates.
A special thanks to all those helpers who made this evening possible. The TaeKwon Do students, and their Instructor, Sue Meek, stayed behind after their training to assist with putting the chairs out for us. Lions members, Ian and Sue Flinders, not only set up and ran the sound gear (including ‘running’ the cordless microphone around to the various audience members, so they could ask their questions of the candidates), but also gave guidance and assistance with setting up and packing up. Attendees assisted too, with stacking the chairs and putting them away, whilst my mother and daughter took charge in the kitchen.
Thank you all for your assistance.
Doreen.
