I am standing to restore the image of the Office of the Mayor and the Moreton Bay Regional Council which has been tarnished by the frequent Crime and Misconduct Commission investigations. The regular leaks to the media by councillors intended to be damaging to each other has also degraded the MBRC brand.
The entire Council requires a culture modification to understand its relationship with the Ratepayers who employ them. Council must understand the obligations and responsibilities they have to the Ratepayers in managing the funds and assets owned by the community. Past secrecy and asset mismanagement is no longer acceptable conduct by Council.
Councillors must accept responsibility for all decisions not just the decisions which affect their respective Division. They must act at all times in the interest of the entire community.
98% Agree
Following my recent survey, 98% of the respondents expect the conduct of Councillors to prohibit the acceptance of cash from developers and that Councillors refrain from property investment within the region during their term of office. They also expect donations to be declared one month before the election date. As a candidate for Mayor, I am committed to this standard of conduct.
