Sept2014_A fun filled night for a great cause

– Saturday 4th October 2014
Locals are invited to attend the 2014 Dayboro Variety Benefit that will take place on Saturday the 4th of October 2014 at the Dayboro Community Hall.  This is a night not to be missed full of entertainment, raffles, auctions and lucky door prizes.

The event is being organising by locals Cheryl McGinn and Tony Wagner for a very dear friend, Sarah McGuiness, who is suffering the debilitating disease Multiple Sclerosis and is in desperate need of treatment.
Sarah is a married mother of 34 with two young boys and lives just over the mountain at Delaney’s Creek.  Sarah has an aggressive form of MS which was diagnosed only 4 years ago.  She has had medication since 2010, however her condition is still rapidly declining to the point now that she struggles with everyday tasks.   She is no longer able to work, stand or walk unaided and needs assistance with almost all of the household activities that most of us take for granted.
Sarah and her family feel that her only hope is the revolutionary treatment “Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation”.  This treatment has an 80% success rate in halting the attack of Multiple Sclerosis on the nervous system and has been recently featured on 60 Minutes.  The sad reality is that to access this treatment many Australians have to travel overseas.  Given the severity and aggressiveness of her condition, Sarah has been given the opportunity to commence this treatment from 18th February 2015.  The one month treatment, flights and accommodation will cost over $50,000AUD.  You can follow her journey on her facebook page ‘Sarah’s fight to kick MS’.  In an attempt to make a contribution towards Sarah’s treatment, all proceeds from the 2014 Dayboro Variety Benefit will go directly to Sarah.
As the night’s title suggests, there will be a variety of music ranging between Country, Rock n Roll, Country Rock and Pop.  Artists appearing on the night include multi award winning Dave Reynolds and Evelyn Bury along with local entertainers Tony Wagner and Cheryl McGinn.  As a special treat some of Sarah’s family and friends, who are well known within the local country music community, will also be performing.  Artists will be supported by the talented Stray Bullet Showband, who are regularly utilised as a backing band for professional artists.

Raffles and Auctions will also take place during the night with some fantastic items and prizes on offer. One auction item is a framed Brisbane Lions jersey signed by the team including recently retired legend Jonathan Brown which has been generously donated.   You can follow some of the Auction Items and Prizes on the ‘2014 Dayboro Variety Benefit’ facebook event page.
Tickets are $26 and strictly limited, so avoid missing out on this great night of entertainment by contacting Cheryl on 0437068243 to secure your seats.   You are also welcome to call if would like to sponsor the night, donate a prize or just contribute towards this great cause.  All sponsors will be advertised in the programme and announced on the night.
