Four local RSLs will benefit from $125,000 of Commonwealth funding to support a number of local projects commemorating the 2015 ANZAC Centenary.
Peter Dutton, Federal Member for Dickson, has said that this funding will allow the RSLs to carry out unique and thoughtful projects to honour the centenary of the ANZACs and ensure that their memory lives on in our community.
After calling for submissions in mid-2013, Mr Dutton is pleased to announce that work on the successful projects has begun.
The successful applications were:
Pine Rivers District RSL Sub-Branch – to rededicate and plant news trees along Anzac Avenue
Samford RSL Sub-Branch – Avenue of Honour
Dayboro War Memorial Association Inc –Inclusion of a Memorial to existing site
Bray Park-Strathpine RSL Sub-Branch – Memorial Service to remember Australia’s declaration of World War I
Mr Dutton congratulated the four RSLs for their in-depth and creative submissions.
“These grants will go towards projects that will complement the wider series of commemorative activities throughout the electorate.”
“ANZAC Day 2015 will see our community come together to ensure the sacrifice and service of our defence personnel is remembered and never forgotten,” Mr Dutton said.
