May2014_FATALITY FREE FRIDAY
~ 30th May 2014 ~
As school holidays kick off, residents are urged to think of the ‘Fatal Five’ and drive safely in the lead up to Fatality Free Friday on 30th May.
Member for Kallangur, Mr Trevor Ruthenberg, said Fatality Free Friday is a great chance for the community to take responsibility for their driving behaviour.
“This campaign is about making a personal commitment to road safety.”
Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, said as part of the campaign Queenslanders will have the opportunity to sign an inflatable car.
“Similar to last year, inflatable cars will tour the state and I’m encouraging all Queenslanders to pledge their support for Fatality Free Friday,” Mr Holswich said.
“This year people will also receive a Fatality Free Friday key to put on their key ring as a constant reminder of their personal road safety pledge.”
“We are so pleased to support this campaign as it is another reminder for us all to think about how we can make a difference to improve safety on our roads.”
Mr Ruthenberg and Mr Holswich coordinated a Fatality Free Friday campaign event at Pine Rivers High School last year, encouraging students to be both responsible drivers and passengers.
All Queenslanders are encouraged to make their pledge, either by signing one of the inflatable cars touring the state, or online at http://www.fatalityfreefriday.com
