PRIORITIES FOR PINE RIVERS FOR 2013
Happy New Year! At the start of what is another exciting year, I have listed the priorities which have emerged as important issues through consultation with the local community. The Pine Rivers community have told me these are important, and I will be working towards positive outcomes for Pine Rivers in each of these areas during 2013
Top 5 local priorities for 2013 are:
Tackling Cost of Living Issues
Continuing to work with businesses and residents on ways to reduce the rising costs of living and costs of doing business
Jobs Growth in our Local Economy
Supporting local businesses to bring more jobs into Pine Rivers
Addressing Hooning and Anti-Social Driving
Working with local police and our community to educate our community on hooning issues and to see a reduction in anti-social driving and hooning behaviour
Youngs Crossing
Continuing to work closely with Moreton Bay Regional Council, Department of Transport and Main Roads and Federal Government representatives to confirm a preferred option for a Youngs Crossing Bridge and to move towards finding a funding solution
Developing the Local Tourism Industry
Closely linked with jobs growth, helping to drive tourism growth in our region, particularly in the Dayboro Hinterland region
I will progressively announce plans in each of these areas in coming months and will record my progress in addressing each of these areas on my website (www.seathholswich.com ), on my “Report Card” page.
There are many other important priorities that will also need addressing in the coming year and
I will still be working hard on other areas including developing stronger schools, achieving positive environmental outcomes, improving our local transport network.

ROADS UPDATE: MOUNT MEE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION WORKS
Mount Mee Road – reconstruction works – Construction update:
Works to reconstruct Mount Mee Road will have recommenced in the second half of January 2013.
There are works to be carried out on several sites to complete the reconstruction project.
The works will involve single lane closures under traffic signals at two sites several kilometres either side of the Mount Mee Township. These lane closures are not expected to be longer than four weeks duration at each site.
It is expected that the reconstruction works will be finished in the first quarter of 2013, weather permitting.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads is very grateful for the ongoing patience and cooperation of residents and road users.
For further information on this project please contact the Transport Network Reconstruction Program team on: 1800 459 366
$80 WATER REBATE TO START FLOWING IN FEBRUARY
Pine Rivers households will start receiving their one-off $80 water rebate from 1st February, delivering on the Newman Government’s election commitment to provide cost of living relief.
This rebate will provide temporary relief from the rising cost of water bills for Pine Rivers and Kallangur households and is part of our 4 Point Plan to reduce water costs.
The once-off $80 rebate will be applied as a deduction from the water bill households receive for the first quarter of 2013. Unitywater’s billing cycle means that most local households will receive the rebate on their bill between 1st February and 30th April 2013.
As part of our election commitment, the Queensland Government has merged the SEQ bulk water entities into a single entity, Seqwater, and abolished the Queensland Water Commission to reduce the cost of supplying water in SEQ.
By creating a single integrated bulk water supply business, corporate costs will be reduced with only a single board, a reduction in the executive team and savings in administrative functions.
The new Seqwater will review the bulk supply system and identify where assets are not needed or can be better utilised. This will allow bulk water to be delivered at the lowest cost possible.
The Queensland Government will also consider the bulk water price to be applied from 1 July 2013.
