May2012_NORTH PINE PRINTING Celebrates 20 Years
In 1989 Andrew and I moved to Ocean View from Petrie. Our daughter Diane was one year old. In 1992 Andrew dislocated his knee while horse riding, on our property at Ocean View.
After the knee operation, he was looking for something to keep him occupied, so he decided to get the old printing machine going that we had bought a while back. Word got round that we had a machine at Andrew’s sister’s property at Samsonvale and we started doing small jobs for people. Also, there was talk in the town of someone starting up a local newspaper. One thing led to another and North Pine Printing was in business.
The local newspaper was of course the Dayboro Grapevine. The work kept coming in from around the local businesses so we decided to take the plunge and Andrew gave up his job working for a large printing company at Eagle Farm, to go full time. Andrew’s sister Julie and husband Barry worked with us for 6 years. They now run their own automotive workshop.
We were both involved in community activities, myself with Outside School Hours Care, while our daughter was at Dayboro School, and Andrew in the Apex Club. We began printing the Apex Business Directory for the Apex Club in 1993 which has grown every year and is still going strong. Thank you to everyone who has been involved with the Apex Club over the years. It is satisfying working on a project that contributes to the Dayboro community.
In 1995 we moved the business to Brendale as most suppliers did not deliver to Dayboro. Our customer base grew steadily with the move to the large industrial estate.
The loyalty of the Dayboro community has really helped us maintain a solid clientele.
This year North Pine Printing celebrates 20 years and would like to say thank you to The Dayboro Grapevine, Dayboro Apex Club, Dayboro District Progress Association, Dayboro State School, Dayboro District Historical Society, Dayboro A. H. & I., Dayboro & District Soccer Club and the many businesses in and around Dayboro.
We would like to especially thank everyone at The Dayboro Grapevine (D.R.I.N. Inc.) and a special mention for the two people we have worked closely with, in the early days Joanne Hohns and, Editor for many years now, Doreen Spillman.
