Apr2011_DAYBORO DINGOS WIN INDOOR SOCCER COMPETITION

logo_db_soccer_100x73mm_10dpi.jpgOn Thursday night Dayboro’s U10 team played in the semi final’s and final of the indoor soccer competition at Brendale.  The competition started back in September, 2010 and at the end of the regular season Dayboro topped the table with 12 wins, 3 draw’s and only 1 loss.
Then it was semi final’s and what a tough game against the Fury!  At the end of full time and 10 minutes extra time it was locked at 2-2, so went to penalty shootout.  Captain Arthur Springer was outstanding in goal saving 3 penalties.  Then Morgan Watson drove the ball into the back of the net to give Dayboro the win.
Then it was a quick 10 minute turnaround before the final up against the Centurions of Mitchelton.  The score was One All at half time and everyone was on the edge of their seat.  The second half started and, playing on pure emotion and adrenalin, Clancy O’Neill, Sam Elliott and Jordan went on a goal scoring frenzy smashing 7 in the back of the net.  Defence has been our key to winning all season and Quinn Sweeney defused every attack the opposition tried to muster with brilliant positional play and timely tackles.  End result Dayboro 8. Centurions 1.  Top scorer Clancy.
P.S.  The doctor said l might get my voice back by Wednesday training!
