July 2010 Network Topic

Well might Dayboro folk have an identity crisis!  It seems that ‘they’ just don’t know where we are!   Who are ‘they’?
(a) Have you ever rung a Nationwide company on their 1-800  number, to ascertain their agent/dealership closest to you?  Often suggestions forthcoming relate to the Caboolture or even the Sunshine Coast area.
(b) Ever rung to make an appointment with a specialist who operates from a number of different locations e.g. Caboolture, Noosa, and Brisbane (even outer Brisbane suburbs such as Chermside)?
We always have to be ready to ask a question along the lines of, “Do you have an office/outlet in the Brisbane region?” or similar.
(c) These days Centerlink’s allocations system for Job Network Providers seems to suffer this same glitch.
(d) Well recently I encountered something even more bizarre!
Our u-beaut 24” computer monitor ‘died’ and, after some discussions about a replacement, a brand and model was suggested.  So, operational with an older, smaller monitor, I went onto a website to look up more information on this suggestion.  It sounded truly impressive, so I did a search, offered from this website, to find the nearest reseller . . . . and on the top of the list that came up was . . . . MACKAY !!!!
Why?  Well the glitch here was more obvious than most.  That particular store was located in the Mackay suburb of Mount Pleasant – and the incorrect postcode of 4521, instead of 4740 had been used for that store’s address  information.
I frequently have to re-do these searches using 4500 (i.e. Strathpine’s postcode) in order to get a more appropriate result!
