HORSE TRAIL RIDE
– from Ocean View to Bullo River Station in the Northern Terriorty
Well it’s time – get out of that chair, dust off that saddle and wash that horse, or in this case you will need more than one, because we are organising a horse trail ride from Mt. Mee Rd, Ocean View to Bullo River Station in the Northern Terriorty.
Now don’t stress just yet – we are not going until July/August in 2011 so you have plenty of time to get organised for the long haul. Or in this case, muster the willingness to undertake the long journey. The distance will be about 3600km, give or take a few feet.
Time frame is about 75 days.
Now the reason for the ride (which has been planned in my mind for the past 6 years) is to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctors and Cancer Council 50/50 and have a great time in doing it as well. Although, when I mentioned it to my mother she said, "What are you going to do about a toilet?" To which I replied, "Have you seen a map of Australia, it’s a pretty big place!" So, on that note, you’d better bring your own toilet paper – if only to keep mum happy.
An insight about myself, as I will be there all the way. I currently work at Redcliffe Hospital as a theatre assistant. It’s a great job. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and am now in remission.
