BIOSPHERE MEETING at Mt Mee Hall Oct 4th 11.45am

Be informed about the BIOSPHERE proposal.  Don’t dismiss it, as our Council have already given it their support!

Tell you friends about this as the next edition of the Dayboro Grapevine won’t be out in time!

The meeting is being organised by Ms Joline Lalime of the " Friends of CREEC" (The Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre). It will be attended by Dr. Dominc Hyde, who is chair of the Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious Environment Protection Association, and by Councillor Adrian Raedel. Dr Hyde has undertaken to outline the history and the aim of the proposal, the anticipated funding and expenditure and the role of UNESCO. An open discussion period is planned in which the pros and cons can be explored.

Here is an excerpt from the Mt Mee News which will appear in your October edition of the Dayboro Grapevine:

" . . . There is palpable local concern at the news that Council seems to be giving credibility to the Biosphere proposal. Indeed, it has coughed up $200,000 over two years.

The concern is that no-one really knows what it is all about, and what effects it could have on our businesses, lifestyle and property values. Those who attended the meeting held in Dayboro a few months ago emerged little the wiser.

It is time for some plain talk on the issue and we are asking Council to convene a meeting to explain things. If we like what we learn, that’s fine. If not, we can take the matter further with Council and State Government.

This is a matter which is relevant to all Mountain ratepayers."

Another source has indicated the funding from Council has been to the tune of $50,000.
