Dayboro First Responders Group
What: SAUSAGE SIZZLE and RAFFLE
When: Saturday 13th September
from 10am to 2pm
Where: Dayboro Valley IGA
Who for: Dayboro 1st Responders Group
As part of Ambulance Week, and to recognise the newly formed Dayboro First Responders Group, the Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) will hold a fundraising sausage sizzle and raffle at the IGA on Saturday September 13, between 10am and 2pm.
This new team of volunteers, dedicated to saving lives in the Dayboro area, will become active by the end of this month (September 29). We would like to celebrate this with the community.
The community is invited to come and meet the new team, see the uniforms and the equipment the team has been fully-trained to use. See us out front of Dayboro Valley IGA on Saturday 13th September!
Take a couple of minutes of your time to get to know and understand the Dayboro First Responders who are volunteers trained in advanced first-aid, advanced resuscitation with oxygen therapy and automatic external defibrillation.
Dayboro’s Queensland Ambulance Service First Responder Group will attend local accident and medical emergencies to provide lifesaving first aid treatment until the arrival of advanced medical care.
Queensland Ambulance Service First Responder Groups are located in specific rural, remote and isolated communities across Queensland.
A First Responder may be required to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillate a patient or simply comfort and reassure them until advanced medical care arrives.
Queensland Ambulance Week is a statewide event celebrating the work of the Queensland Ambulance Service and the contribution its members make to the community.
Being held from September 12-18, Ambulance Week is also aimed at increasing community awareness of the service.

We acknowledge and thank Tony Massie, Owner/Manager of the Dayboro Valley IGA for his donation towards this fundraising endeavour.
A submission has gone in for a grant to enable the purchase of training equipment which will enhance the knowledge and experience of our 1st Responders unit, but we need to fundraise for our contribution towards the project, as well as for any additional items that the group may require.
The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) has supplied us with the uniforms, radios, pagers, defibrillator and 1st aid equipment required, as well as providing the initial training of the team.
The major equipment purchase sought is a training manikin that will be able to be programmed to simulate a seemingly infinite variety of patient symptoms. With the experience this will give our team, we feel that they will be better able to attend to emergency situations with confidence in their abilities.
