Feb2015_The Art Train Celebrates in 2015

The Art Train celebrates its first birthday in February.  The Art Train is situated in Samford Village in a restored train carriage just up Station Street from The Flying Nun.  The Art Train is dedicated to teaching art to children and adults, and also functions as an artist’s studio.
During school holidays the “Train” runs day long art workshops for kids. Term time classes for kids aim to introduce the elements of art through weekly exercises.  The students thoroughly explore each element using a variety of media and then work on a finished canvas inspired by a famous artist.  Holiday workshops are themed with a famous artist or technique and the kids go home with several finished pieces.  Home school classes are also available.
Adult classes are individually designed to suit each student’s needs.  The “Train” runs back to basics drawing and painting which helps students learn to draw and paint from scratch or provide the confidence to get back into art. Specialist tuition in a number of media such as image release, gouache, encaustic, or paper mache is also on offer for those who wish to explore their own work.
The Art Train also hosts “guided painting” each term. Guided painting sessions are step by step style courses held on Saturday afternoons.  You come along and receive detailed tuition to enable you to go home with a finished canvas of the session image.  These classes are ideal for beginners, are lots of fun and very social.
