Public Transport Fares Cut
For the first time ever there will be a state-wide reduction in public transport fares, commencing 3rd November. This reduction comes from savings made with the scrapping of the carbon tax.
For regular commuters travelling to Brisbane CBD from Petrie Station, this means a saving of around $142 per year. From Lawnton, Bray Park or Strathpine Station it’s a $126 saving and from Ferny Grove it means a $99 saving each year.
There will also be no increase of fares in 2015.
Our government is working hard to provide a more efficient, regular and affordable public transport network.

Queensland’s new Domestic Violence Taskforce headed up by Dame Quentin Bryce has been given five months to work out how to stop the escalating rates of domestic violence in the state.
A Domestic and Family Violence survey, conducted for the Taskforce, found most people agreed that communities too often ignored or turned a blind eye to domestic and family violence.
The Taskforce will hold two summits – one in Brisbane and the other in regional Quee
nsland – and will provide a final report to the Premier by 28 February, 2015. You can find out more at www.qld.gov.au/dfvtaskforce
