2009 CHRISTMAS PARADE AND CONCERT

in Pine Rivers District, Saturday 12th December 2009
CALL FOR FESTIVE FLOATS:  Moreton Bay Regional Council is putting out the call for festive floats to take part in this year’s Pine Rivers Christmas Parade.
Information received by the Dayboro Grapevine was that nominations forms would be available on the website – www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au – until November 2.  As the Grapevine would not be out until then, our enquiries have established that the Events Department would be happy to receive applications up to Monday November 16.
Soooo . . . If your group is keen to participate, and the application form is no longer available on Council’s website, contact Doreen from the Grapevine to obtain a copy.  Phone 3425 1872.  It is a 2-page PDF so I can either email it to you, fax it, or arrange for you to collect a printed copy.  So remember November 16 is the cut-off . . . . It is already an extension, so don’t be late!!
Mayor Allan Sutherland said he was encouraging everybody from community, sporting and school groups to businesses to be part of the Christmas spectacle by entering a float for the parade along Gympie Road at Strathpine on December 12.
“You can sing, you can dance, you can dress up – it doesn’t matter, just as long as you embrace the festive spirit and get involved,” the Mayor said.
“Anyone in the Moreton Bay region can get involved, even if you’re not from the Pine Rivers area.
“No float? It doesn’t matter, everyone is welcome to take part.”
Mayor Sutherland said the best floats and procession would be rewarded with prizes.
“It’s well worth the effort but time is running out and as the saying goes you have to be in it to win it,” he said

PARADE
This year’s Christmas Parade and Concert in Pine Rivers Park will be loads of fun for everyone! The parade will start at 5.30pm on Gympie Road (outside Westfield Strathpine). We’ll have everything in there from a nativity scene through to singing, dancing and riding groups.  There will be plenty of excitement for everyone.
The highlight of the parade is the big man in red, Santa Claus!
The parade will travel down Gympie Road, Strathpine to Pine Rivers Park for the main concert in the new amphitheatre, starting at about 6.20pm.  Fireworks are set for 9pm to round off the evening.  Food and beverages are available on site or you may BYO.  BYO blankets and chairs is advised.  NO ALCOHOL is to be brought to the parkland, nor is it available to purchase.
The Pine Rivers Christmas Parade starts at 5.30pm on Saturday, December 12 in Learmonth Street opposite Westfield Strathpine car park (weather permitting), then via Gympie Road to Pine Rivers Park, for the Pine Rivers Christmas Concert and fireworks display.
“As always it’s a fantastic evening of festive family entertainment,” Mayor Sutherland said.
