12 YEARS OF SENIORS’ EXPO SUCCESS

The Dickson Seniors’ Expo is proving to be more popular than ever, with over 1200 people visiting the annual event this week.

Held in Seniors Week, the two-day Expo showcased over 60 stallholders, handed out in excess of 1200 free sample bags, and hosted a high calibre of guest speakers; including Australia’s Local Hero for 2015, Founder and CEO of GIVIT, Juliette Wright.  Juliette inspired attendees with the story of how she founded GIVIT and the incredible contributions the charity has been able to make to those most in need.

As well as hearing from Juliette, the Expo had keynote addresses from Russell Young from Russell Young Garden Designs, and Detective Senior Constable Graham Edwards from the Queensland Police Service Fraud Protection Unit.  Entertainment was provided by Hot Inspirations and David Barry was the event’s MC.

Peter Dutton, Federal Member for Dickson, has proudly sponsored the Dickson Seniors’ Expo since it first began in 2004.

“The Expo is a great opportunity for retirees, or those close to retirement, to access information on activities and services in the community,” Mr Dutton said.

Mr Dutton congratulated the Dickson Seniors Council Committee Members, particularly their Chairman, Patrick Dore, Secretary, Cath Tonks, and Treasurer, Jacqui Cooper.

“I’m looking forward to again working with the Dickson Seniors Council on next year’s Expo.”
