Japan by Kathryn

Just thought I would drop you a line to say thank you for organizing our recent trip to Japan.  We had a fantastic holiday!  It is certainly a great time to visit Japan as the weather is mild (it was around 18-23 degrees most days with the nights a little cooler).  We only had one rainy day which was unfortunately on the day we went to Mt Fuji but this was more than made up for by the cherry blossoms that were in bloom in the area.  On this our first trip to Japan, we went not really knowing what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised.  Even though it is a highly populated country it is very clean, well organized and the people are lovely and couldn’t be more helpful.  It also feels very safe.  We were wandering around the back streets of Tokyo at night with no problems – and found some great little restaurants!!  As you know we took the Bullet Train from Mt Fuji to Kyoto.  So easy and a huge amount of leg room so no problem having your luggage at your feet if it is too heavy to lift overhead.  We very much enjoyed Kyoto, the ancient capital.  It has justifiably earned its World Heritage Listing.  The shrines, temples and the gardens were beautiful and can especially recommend the Arashiyama bamboo forest, the Tenryuji Zen Garden which also includes the Okochi Senso Garden.  All in all we had a great time and in no time at all it was time to come home!

Thanks once again.
