Dayboro families urged to Get Started with $150 vouchers up for grabs

Families have been encouraged to apply for Round 7 of the Palaszczuk Government’s Get Started Vouchers program opening on Wednesday 27 January at 10am.

Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd MP said Get Started Vouchers provide up to $150 to eligible families to help cover the membership and associated costs of joining a sports club.

“The last round of the Get Started Vouchers program was enormously popular here in Pine Rivers and I’m expecting demand this round to be even greater, so locals need to get in quick,” Ms Boyd said.

“More than $4 million has been allocated for this coming round, so I want to see even more local families making use of this fantastic offer.

“Currently, there are close to 3,900 clubs registered with Get Started Vouchers across the state, so there is definitely a diverse range of activities for kids to participate in.

“Local AFL, rugby league, basketball, gymnastics and soccer all proved popular here in Pine Rivers last round.

“I encourage more sport and recreation clubs to register to become a ‘Get Started Vouchers club’ as the vouchers can only be redeemed by families at clubs registered with the program.”

More than 109,000 vouchers have been issued to Queensland families over the life of the program to go towards the cost of club membership and participation fees.

Ms Boyd said participation in sport can make a real difference to a child’s development by encouraging them to be both physically and socially active.

Get Started Vouchers are issued on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so I strongly encourage eligible families to act quickly and apply,” Ms Boyd said.

“This time last year more than 30,000 vouchers were allocated in just nine days and demand for this round is expected to exceed that.”
